Maggi diet: menu for 4 weeks

The Maggi diet is a low-calorie diet for weight loss designed for 4 weeks.The daily diet contains high-protein foods, and the consumption of fats and carbohydrates is limited.

The name of the diet comes from the name Margaret, as the nutritional plan was prepared by Mayo Clinic specialists specifically for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the eighties of the twentieth century.

There are two types of diets: the egg diet (based on the consumption of eggs, fruit, vegetables and meat) and the cottage cheese ("dacha") diet.The Maggi curd diet is used in cases of allergy to chicken eggs, and each egg must be replaced with 100 g of curd.

Leaving the diet

A long-term low-calorie diet is a serious burden on the body, so at the end of the fourth week, subsequent nutrition must be properly organized.

After completing the Maggi diet, as with other carb-restricted meal plans, you are more likely to overeat starchy and sugary foods.

In order to avoid overeating after a diet, you should include foods in your diet according to the following principle:

  • every 3 days, increase the amount of slow carbohydrate foods (buckwheat, bulgur, quinoa, bean bran, whole grain rye bread) by 20-25 g, until the total weight of carbohydrate foods reaches 250-200 g per day;
  • the amount of non-starchy vegetables should be half of the total daily diet;
  • Every day you can eat a large fruit or berry in the amount of 100 g;
  • do not include sweets in your diet, as during the diet the body is weaned from sweets, so it should not develop an addiction again;
  • eat 3-4 times a day and minimize the number of snacks at other times;
  • don't eat 3 hours before bed.

Contraindications

Since the Maggi diet consists of a large number of protein products, which cause additional stress on the functioning of the kidneys and liver, this diet should not be used by patients with pathologies such as:

  • kidney failure;
  • increased level of uric acid in the blood;gout.

Also, the Maggi diet should not be used to treat eating disorders (ED), namely people prone to anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive overeating, as a low-calorie diet may exacerbate the eating disorder problem.
